The State Championship Rifle Matches
Designated Tri County Cadet Rifle League matches each year were used to qualify teams and individuals for participation in the California Cadet Corps State Championship Rifle Matches, usually held at Camp San Luis Obispo California. Initially the matches were held indoors at 50 feet using the standard National Rifle Association targets for position (prone, sitting, kneeling, standing) firing five shots in each position. When the marksmanship program was converted to the International format, the course of fire was moved outdoors and fired at 50 meters (20 shots in each position, prone, kneeling, and standing). Schools could qualify and send five person and ten person rifle teams along with individuals to the state matches.
